Robots and Wine was free and open to the public!  The robots performed on our central patio where guests had the opportunity to mingle with the robots, meet the program director, Dr. Szecsei, and ask questions about the Robot Theatre program.

There was a cash bar selling wine for $10 / glass (included tax and gratuity).

Cheese & nibbles were provided.

 Questions?  Email Dr. Szecsei.

As for the workshop... On Friday, August 12 from 11 AM - 2 PM, Vino Locale hosted a 3-hour workshop for professionals to learn how to program NAO humanoid robots. Dr. Denise Szecsei (Computer Science and Math lecturer at the University of Iowa) hosted a FREE workshop to introduce these robots to the community and to share her vision of encouraging girls to explore technology.  At these workshops, we work directly with the robots.  No previous programming experience is expected, or required.  We saw first-hand how engaging it is to work with these robots.

This workshop was for professionals in the technology industry, performing arts, education (K-12 teachers and university faculty), a parent, post-secondary student or advanced high school student.

The workshop program was created by Dr. Denise Szecsei of University of Iowa, and the workshops will be held in partnership with UC Santa Cruz.  Learn more about the UI CS Performing Robots and/or sign up for a Robot Theatre Workshop
